Eric Arendsen (1982) is a musician from Rotterdam with a lifelong passion for crafting his own music. Since the age of 12, his electric guitar has been his trusted companion, although he also wields the bass guitar and programs drums to assemble his one-man band. Over the years, he has composed a diverse array of albums, ranging from dreamy cinematic soundscapes to powerful, heavy rock tunes.

Growing up in the city of Arnhem in the '90s, his love for music was ignited by grunge bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Melvins. Especially the latter opened doors to more experimental artists such as Mike Patton and Frank Zappa.

Eric's first band, Amigone, was a grunge band consisting of a drummer and himself. Various bands and projects followed, exploring genres ranging from blues and hard rock to sludge and screamo. Ivy was an experimental trio in which all these styles merged. The members alternated instruments and often improvised during performances. The group later transformed into the band Ontzettend where the screamo continued in the Dutch language.

An even more experimental exploration of genres can be found in the project called Formica Pampas, where analog electronics were mixed with guitar, bass, and samples ranging from speeches to noise made from children’s toys. Beyond all this sonic intensity, Eric has also had numerous experiences as a bassist, accompanying singer-songwriter Nienke Deiters in dozens of performances as well as being part of an acoustic guitar duo called Sober.

Currently, his focus is primarily on creating his own instrumental music, spanning genres from heavy rock to experimental cinematic music. In collaboration with Bullebak BV, several music films have already been screened in cities including Arnhem, Nijmegen, and Rotterdam.

Apart from being a musician, Eric is a graphic artist. He has exhibited his paintings several times, best described as abstract expressionism with Jackson Pollock as a source of inspiration. Eric also has a passion for digital drawing, and his graphic work has been featured in the Volkskrant Magazine, in the design of the festival Spring in Autumn Utrecht, in albumcovers and logo's for other bands and musicians, in various books and in different magazines. He designs his own album covers and music videos himself unless stated otherwise. In summary, Eric Arendsen can be called a versatile, self-taught artist with a true DIY mentality.

Eric is always open to new collaborations. So, if you're interested, feel free to get in touch and send a message.
